The summer may be without one of television's most popular shows, but the members of SAMCRO continue to ride. Come fall, the series will enter its sixth and likely penultimate season. The club is in shambles, and it's time for Jax to patch things up for good. As we ride towards the season premiere, more details from the set hint at how Jax will go about securing SAMCRO's fate for the better.

Earlier this week, Kurt Sutter spoke to Deadline about the upcoming season, specifically on how Jax will adapt to role of president in the wake of the season 5 finale. He made several vicious decisions last season, including a killing spree in retaliation of his best friend's death and injecting heroin into his former junkie ex-wife in fear of losing custody of his child. It seems as though there's no turning back for Jax. Sutter elaborates.

When these aggressive, unforgiving scenes are introduced, "if it happens through that organic process, I don't worry so much about being able to bring that character back, because even an audience may think 'oh my God that's so f***** up and I would never do that,' but if it's coming from that right place then it's 'yeah, I kind of see why they did that.' That is usually the test for me: if I can tie it to character and relationship as well as having it feed and set the story on fire a little bit, then I always feel like I can bring him back. But you are right. We are getting closer and closer to that point as we wind down, where it is getting harder to bring him back."

Jax shares similar sentiments in the show as he continues to find a balance between the crime and the message his late father initially planned to establish.

"Jax is walking that fine line and he will have that moment in the next few seasons where he wonders if he's passed that fine line," Sutter said. "And if he has, can he cross his way back? It was much easier in the first few seasons for his character and what he would and wouldn't do, because I always had the contrast of Clay to keep him on the right side... That's part of the mythology. Now, as they become part of the same individual, those shades are getting much closer."

"Sons of Anarchy will return to FX on September 11.
