Nat Wolff, one of the contenders to become Augustus Waters, might still end up being cast in the film adaptation of John Green's "The Fault in Our Stars."

18-year-old Wolff was earlier rumored to be among those chosen for the role of protagonist in the bestselling novel. However, the role was ultimately given to Ansel Elgort, opposite Shailene Woodley. Woodley and Elgort are also castmates in the futuristic action/adventure film "Divergent."

Wolff, meanwhile, told MTV News that he was still among the cast members, which means fans could still see him appear in the big-screen adaptation of the coming of age story.

Asked about auditioning for Augustus, Wolff told MTV News "It was really great. The script is really great."

Wolff said that it's all still under negotiations and we all have to monitor the developments.

"Stuck in Love" director Josh Boone has been named the director of the book-turned-film about a teenage cancer patient named Hazel who meets former basketball player Augustus in a support group and what transpires in their mutual attempts at recovery and acceptance.

MTV News speculates that Nate might end up playing Isaac, a fellow member of the support group.

Wolff had earlier worked with Boone on "Stuck in Love," which hypable.com sees as the reason Wolff was tapped to audition for the film. Hypable had good things to say about Wolff's role as "Rusty" in the film, which hits cinemas in the U.S. in July.

MTV News adds that casting updates may come our way sooner than we think, as the production unit is aiming for a summer shooting beginning August. Elgort and Woodley are currently shooting "Divergent" which is set to hit theaters in 2014.
