Sam Mendes revealed that he is still not attached to direct James Bond 24.

After rumors spread about Mendes returning to direct the follow up to "Skyfall," the helmer finally rejected the claims and said that he was still thinking about the proposition. During the premiere of his new play "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," he told HeyUGuys, "In answer to the question you're going to ask, I don't know yet." He added, "I'm in discussion over the 'B' word and I won't make any decision until this is open. It's taken a long time to get this open and this has been my focus."

Mendes originally rejected the opportunity to direct the next installment in the franchise but in May it was revealed the Mendes was speaking to producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson about the possibility of returning. Broccoli was adamant about her desire to work with Mendes for a second time and it was later revealed that he would most likely do the 25th installment.

Mendes is best known for directing "Skyfall" and "American Beauty" for which he won an Academy Award. He also directed "Road to Perdition" with Tom Hanks and Daniel Craig and "Revolutionary Road" with Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. Mendes also directed the Indie film "Away We Go" with Maya Rudolph and John Krasinski and "Jarhead" with Jake Gyllenhaal.

"Skyfall" became the most successful Bond movie ever made and received 5 Academy Award nominations. The film was also the recipient of two BAFTA awards including Best British Film. "Skyfall also became the highest grossing Bond movie of all time and grossed over $1 billion worldwide.

James Bond 24 is currently being written by John Logan and is slated for release in the next three years.
