Armie Hammer will not be the Ant-Man.
Director Edgar Wright confirmed that he had not met with Armie Hammer on the set of "Capitan America: The Winter Solider." He wrote on Twitter, "But...I Haven't been on the Cap 2 Set....or Met Mr. Hammer..."
Recently rumors spread about Hammer being attached to star as the "Ant-Man." According to sources "The Lone Ranger" actor and Wright were meeting on the set of the second "Captain America" film. Bloggers went on to say that even though neither Wright nor Hammer were attached to "Captain America," they were talking about the upcoming "Ant-Man" film.
Wright is slated to direct the film but has not begun pre-production. He is currently finishing up post-production on his upcoming film "The World's End" slated for release this summer. The British director has directed "Scott Pilgram vs. the World," "Hot Fuzz," and "Shaun of the Dead."
Hammer next stars in "The Lone Ranger" alongside Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. He has previously appeared in "J. Edgar," "Mirror Mirror," and "The Social Network." Hammer is currently in talks to star in "The Man of U.N.C.L.E" alongside "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill.
The "Ant-Man" will be part of Marvel's third phase for "The Avengers." The studio is currently working on its second phase which will reunite Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, and Thor. It will also include new heroes such as Quicksilver. The studio is also gearing for a "Guardian of Galaxy" film. However Marvel has yet to reveal whether or not the characters could make appearances in the next Avengers movie.
"Ant-Man" will be written by Joe Cronish and is slated for release on November 6, 2015.
