Battlefield 4 has yet to be released, but fans of the game already know what to expect from the first two DLC packs for the game. While the first DLC pack, China Rising, will be free to those who preorder the game and arrive first on Xbox consoles, the second DLC pack, appropriately titled Second Assault, has been announced by DICE. Second Assault will feature several maps from Battlefield 3, retooled using the Frostbite 3 engine for the upcoming game in the series.

Gamespot is reporting that four maps, still unnamed, will be making the jump from Battlefield 3 to 4. This is not the first time that DICE has pulled off this move, as four Battlefield 2 maps (Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Wake Island 2014, and Sharqi Peninsula) all were revamped with Frostbite 2 for Battlefield 3 in December of 2011.

Battlefield 4 is still months away from being released on current gen titles, yet DICE has already revealed a host of details about the DLC. While most developers have players guessing for quite some time as to what content DLC will offer, DICE is being refreshingly upfront about what players can expect after Battlefield 4 is released.

In addition to the maps of Second Assault, the China Rising DLC will add four additional maps to the game, along with an unknown number of new vehicles and some new equipment thrown in as well.

Battlefield 4 has quickly become the hottest next-gen game after a strong showing at E3, which featured both single player campaign footage and multiplayer action as well. This focus on the multiplayer action in particular has caused gamers to focus more on Battlefield 4 than the series biggest rival, Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC versions of Battlefield 4 will be out October 29. The release date for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game remain shrouded in mystery.
