Casey Affleck has joined Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar."
Affleck revealed the news during an interview with Elle Magazine. He stated "I've got a movie coming out at Thanksgiving called Out of the Furnace, and I'm going to work on a Chris Nolan movie in the fall."
The actor joins an ensemble cast that also includes Jessica Chastain, Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine. Nolan and Emma Thomas are producing with Lynda Obst, while Jordan Goldberg is working as executive producer. Obst commissioned the original film with Steven Spielberg slated to direct. However Spielberg left the film last year after Jonathon Nolan began writing the movie. Spielberg will now serve as producer. The film 's story, which is based on scientific theories of theoretical physicist Kip Thorne, will depict a heroic voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding.
Affleck is currently promoting his new film "Ain't Them Bodies Saints" which also stars Rooney Mara and Ben Foster. Some of his major films include "Gone Baby Gone," "Tower Heist," and "The Killer Inside Me." He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Robert Ford in "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford." Affleck will next be seen in "Out of Furnace" with Christian Bale, Zoe Saldana, Woody Harrelson, Forest Whitaker and Sam Shepard.
Nolan recently produced Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" and is currently serving as Executive Producer on Wally Pfister's "Transcendence" with Johnny Depp. The British director is best known for his work on "The Dark Knight series" as well as "Inception." He also directed "The Prestige," "Memento," "Insomnia," and "Following."
"Interstellar" will be co-financed by Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. Entertainment and is expected to be released on November 27, 2014. Production is expected to begin in the fall.
