It looks like the upcoming Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will have enough DLC to warrant a season pass, according to a listing on BestBuy.com, which was first spotted by AllGamesBeta. The most notable piece of information about the DLC that we can obtain from this announcement is that the content will feature a different character than Edward Kenway. Instead, his first mate Adewale will be stepping in and fulfilling the role of assassin for the expansion.
The season pass content promises to save gamers $20 on all the planned DLC for the game, and is listed as retailing for $19.99. The season pass will include single player missions, multiplayer missions, and customization options. Perhaps these customization options will make players able to design their own pirate for the game's multiplayer.
The DLC content for Assassin's Creed 3 was much different from what it looks like we can expect for Assassin's Creed 4. In the third game, players played an alternative history version of American history, in which George Washington declared himself king and the protagonist of the game, Connor, was granted superpowers. While it sounds vaguely like a version of the Saint's Row 4 plot set in the 1700's, it was a very successful set of DLC that was praised by critics and gamers alike.
The DLC promises to take gamers on an adventure to discover the "real explosive events of the Golden Age of Pirates," whatever that may entail. Perhaps we will see a more complete version of pirate life with Adewale, instead of one filled with Templar conspiracies and mystical objects like we have seen in the series as a whole. It would be nice to experience a more normal adventure showing a more realistic side to the pirate world of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.
