Devotees of the AMC series "The Walking Dead" are much like the zombies that the show portrays. They don't rest. They just keep on going, scourging for their next fix. The only thing that differentiates the two is what they're seeking. In the zombies' case, it's human brains. For fans, it's any little detail hinting at what's coming in season 4.

Fans of the comic books can look ahead to find the answers, however, the writers are known to drift slightly from the comic's storyline from time to time. If the show were to adhere to the comics, Rick would likely lose his hand to The Governor at some point in the series, but we've yet to see it happen.

At first it seemed unlikely that the show would follow suit and leave Rick right handless. It would require constant CG work and series creator Robert Kirkman even expressed his regrets for ever adding the scene into the comics. But now leaked photos feature Rick with a heavily bandaged right hand. Could AMC have chosen to take away Rick's hand, or will he suffer some other parallel injury that requires no more than a little fix up? We'll just have to wait until season 4 to find out. Check out the photos here.

Speaking of The Governor, fans will see his reign of terror continue in the forthcoming season. "The question will be answered [in] season 4," said comic book writer and executive producer Robert Kirkman to Horror-Movies. "We always had a plan for this guy. We always knew that it was a bigger story than would fit into one season. There's still a lot more to be done with this guy. We've known from the very first minute of season 3 that we would be keeping The Governor around for awhile."

"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC on Sunday, October 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
