It appears as though some highly anticipated titles from legendary developer Valve are in the works, and could be revealed sooner than some gamers think.
In a post on Valvetime, a user allegedly obtained documents that Valve employees may be discussing or even working on projects such as Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, and a new Source Engine.
The documents, which can be seen here, come from an anonymous source which shows screenshots from an internal project-tracking software. In this document, it is allegedly revealed that 42 employees are on a mailing list for Half-Life 3, while a further 68 people are grouped together for Left 4 Dead 3. Valve has yet to comment or confirm either of these projects as being worked on, so if this leak is accurate it means we could see these titles within a few years.
The other big projects listed in the documents include several groups working on "Source 2," which would hint at Valve updating their Source engine for the next generation of consoles. Another set of big projects listed are the Steam Box and Piston, two home consoles Valve is involved with. While the Xi3 Piston is a separate third party console in development, the Steam Box is a console that would take advantage of Valve's popular Steam service and bring it to a home console. The Steam Box was scheduled for a release during the summer, according to Valve's founder, but so far no announcements have been made about the Steam Box's release.
Valve has yet to confirm if this list is official, and certainly has not given any indication that Half-Life 3 or Left 4 Dead 3 are coming anytime soon. While Half-Life 3 has been rumored for years, Valve has given zero hints at a new entry in the Left 4 Dead series. Time will tell if this list is legit or just a ruse for the gullible.
