As the summer rolls on out, so do the details from the production of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." In most recent news, Shailene Woodley, who originally signed on to play the role of Mary Jane in the upcoming film, has been bumped to the third installment, due to hit theaters in 2016.

"Of course I'm bummed," she said to Entertainment Weekly. "But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason. MJ only appeared in a few scenes and I wouldn't trade the experience of working with Andrew and Emma for three days on set for the world. Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing MJ until the next film."

In other recent Spidey news, during an appearance on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, Jamie Foxx shows off a few photos of his character Max Dillon as himself and transformed as Electro. The best part, however, is that he gives fans a preview of the villain's voice. Check it out in the video below.

In "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," for Peter Parker, life is busy - between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen, high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away - but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro, emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2014.
