Samsung fans will get yet another few variants of the Galaxy S4 to choose from in the coming weeks, with two big ones landing on AT&T. The nation's second largest wireless service provider is now shipping out the Galaxy S4 Active and offering an exclusive color.
AT&T began taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S4 Active, the rugged Galaxy S4 variant, recently, and the carrier is shipping out those devices today, June 19. The phone will be available for purchase in stores Friday, June 21. AT&T currently sells the Galaxy S4 Active for $199.99 with a two-year contract. The Galaxy S4 Active is Samsung's answer to other outdoorsy smartphones like the Sony Xperia Z. While the Galaxy S4 Active comes with some weaker specs, like an 8-megapixel camera instead of a 13-megapixel shooter, but makes up for it by being waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof.
AT&T is also offering a new color option for the new Galaxy S4 exclusive to the carrier: Red Aurora. The red Galaxy S4 costs the same as other Galaxy S4s, $199.99 with a two-year contract.
The regular Galaxy S4 is currently one of the top-of-the-line Android smartphones, boasting an impressive 5-inch 1080p display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor or a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa eight-core processor. Other specs include a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB RAM, and Android 4.2.2 right out of the box. The Galaxy S4 is Samsung's fastest selling phone ever.
