Popular HTC handsets are slated to receive an Android 4.2 update sometime in the coming months, although it seems like one batch will be left out. If the rumors are true, then the HTC One S might never see Android 4.2.2.
Much of the fanfare concerning an Android update for an HTC phone has concentrated around the new flagship One and older One X smartphones. For a while, it seemed that the One S would receive the same aggressive Android 4.2.2 rollout, but not anymore.
Well-known HTC insider and modder LlabTooFeR took to Twitter with some bad news:
@Bonny_Fr Update will be cancelled with 95% probability

When responding to a question on Twitter regarding Android 4.2.2 for the HTC One S, @LlabTooFeR replied that, "[the] Update will be cancelled with 95% probability."
Now LlabTooFer is not an official HTC representative, however, his track record has been rather impressive and the insider has been known to have an intimate knowledge of HTC's firmware plans. This is by no means an official obituary for the One S Android 4.2.2 upgrade, but it's definitely not an encouraging sign.
If the One S will not receive Android 4.2.2, then there's also a good chance that the smartphone will not get a newer version of the Sense UI either. HTC is said to be including Sense 5.1 in its Android 4.2.2 updates.
HTC is planning to roll out Android 4.2.2 incredibly soon for the One, and in July for the One X.
Are you willing to stick it out with your One S until HTC makes an official comment? Or does the possibility of no Android 4.2.2 have you looking at a newer Android phone?
