Netflix is on a roll. Their new television platform is revolutionizing the industry. Original series like "House of Cards" and exclusive releases like the one they accomplished with "Arrested Development" have drifted from the popular conception of how we view television series. Instead of waiting, week by week, for a new episode in an allotted timeslot, Netflix gives its audience the entire season at once, allowing them to watch when they please. If someone wants to binge watch the entire season in one sitting, then by all means, go for it. If someone else would rather space out the season over the course of a year until the next season is released, well, to each his own.
The one downside of the new platform is that Netflix has to keep it going. It has to continue to pump out new material that will keep fans engaged and coming back to their Watch Instantly channel. Luckily, there's a new season of "House of Cards" right around the corner, and fans are already digging up as much dirt as they can on the series' return.
In recent "House of Cards" news, actress Kate Mara has confirmed that production is well underway when she tweeted, "to all those asking, we are shooting #HouseofCards season 2 right now..."
In addition, two new actors have joined the cast. Jimi Simpson, known for his work on "Breakout Kings," will be taking on a reoccurring role, however the description of his character has yet to be revealed. Kate Lyn Sheil will also be hopping on board for season 2 as another 'secret' character. Sheil is known for her roles in "Somebody Up Their Likes Me" and "Sun Don't Shine."
Although there is no confirmed premiere date, it's rumored that "House of Cards" season 2 will launch on Netflix in the early weeks of 2014.
