E3 2013 is in the books, and when all was said and done, much of what was expected from the show delivered. The Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts and other participants wowed us with the usual flair for the dramatic, but there was still some surprises that appeared at the show.
Square Enix managed to land a big one-two combo with their videos for Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3 during the PlayStation 4 conference. Though both games are coming also to the Xbox One, they first appeared during Sony's big conference, and dazzled with excellent trailers. The former Final Fantasy Versus 13 had a longer trailer that showed the most action oriented Final Fantasy that we have seen in years. And Kingdom Hearts 3's trailer, though it was brief, was enough to placate fans who are sick of handheld titles in the series.
Star Wars: Battlefront 3 made a similar debut as Kingdom Hearts 3, with a minute and change long video in the middle of many other titles. But the video caused a roar from the crowd, and knowing that veteran studio DICE is handling the game instead of the newly created DICE LA should make the game one to watch.
Finally, the price of the Xbox One was a surprise to those attending the show and those watching the live stream at home. The system, which is already marred in controversy due to privacy concerns and controversial online policies, will cost $499, one hundred dollars more than the PlayStation 4. This may spell doom for the system, as many gamers do not feel that the Xbox One did not justify it's high price during E3.
