Tuesday's E3 sessions revealed major news for the upcoming "Pokémon X and Y" video games.

Guests were introduced to the Player Search System (PSS), which allows users of either "X" and "Y" to connect, battle, and trade with players across the globe.
A second new feature concerns battling. Horde Encounters and Sky Battles will be a fixture in the sixth-generation games.
Starting with Horde Encounters, the player will encounter wild Pokémon en masse, such as a crew of Axew, Tauros, Miltank, and Houndour.
"Horde Encounters take battling to a new, intense level that forces a player to battle against multiple wild Pokémon that attack all at once-with only a single Pokémon on the player's side," according to a statement issued Tuesday. "Players will need to ensure their Pokémon has moves that can attack multiple Pokémon at once or they may quickly find themselves on the losing end of the battle."
Sky Battles allows both Flying-type Pokémon and those with the ability Levitate to battle higher than before. "Pokémon X and Y" will see trainers demand a battle from cliffs or distant places but that won't stop them from a potential victory.
As the upcoming games will launch worldwide simultaneously on Oct. 12, players will have to select the language of the game from among seven options: English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Korean, and Spanish.
