AS Monaco is reportedly expected make a record-breaking offer for superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to UK publication The Independent, "Monaco are ready to make a world record €100m (£85m) bid for Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo."
"Monaco will offer Ronaldo an annual salary of €20m, which would equate to nearly £330,000 per week. The principality of Monaco does not charge its residents income tax and so Ronaldo would become the highest-paid footballer in the world," adds the publication.
The club has already spent well over 110 million pounds this summer on such stars as James Rodriguez, Radamel Falcao, and Joao Moutinho.
Ronaldo has reportedly stated that he wants to work out a deal to remain in Madrid. "I am well, calm and not worried about it. I know we will reach a deal," said the Real Madrid superstar.
According The Sun, he wants Madrid to pay him 32 million pounds a year to remain in Madrid. The club's president Florentino Perez has openly said that he will do everything and anything to keep his star at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"There are no open negotiations at the moment, that will be from July. My opinion is that Cristiano will retire at Real Madrid, that is his dream, and the club's too. Some people think that negotiations are done in the newspapers," said Perez. "I will do everything in my power to renew the contract. He has two years left on his contract, he is the best in the world and we would like to give a boost to the team with him as a leader and an emblem. I would not sell him for 1,000 million euros (1 billion Euros). We are not a selling club."
