In the face of declining PC sales and lost market share, Microsoft seems to be intent on taking over headlines.
Over the last few days, the giant has made major announcements for its latest OS Windows 8. Their latest news story is the announcement and features of Office 13. The new software had been codenamed Office 15 in prior reports.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer made the official announcement of Office 13, including its major features. The Suite will include a more seamless SkyDrive experience as well as a more touch support and integration. Office 13 will also have new roaming capabilities which enable users to access recent used files and templates across different devices. Finally, the Suite will enable users to access social accounts with Skype, Facebook, YouTube, and Yammer.
As part of the major announcement, Microsoft also announced that Office 365 will be available to home users. With Office 365, subscribers will be able to install Office 13 on up to five PCs and will get 60 minutes of Skype calling minutes. Users will also obtain 20GB free of SkyDrive Storage.
There is no word on when the program will launch or for what price, though a fall launch alongside Microsoft's new OS Windows 8 is expected.
