Well what do you know, a new contender for the role of Anastasia Steele has entered the growing "50 Shades of Grey" casting arena. It doesn't come as much surprise, as avid fans are well aware of the ever-changing lineup of potential actors for both Anastasia and Christian Grey. While E. L. James and Universal Studios remain silent on the pressing matter at hand, it's up to fans to create polls and mock trailers featuring their favorites. It keeps the "50 Shades" fire burning and maybe, just maybe, their angst and determination will prompt James and Universal to make a timely decision.
So who's the newbie to join contention for the role of the innocent, young Anastasia? None other than Shailene Woodley. The 20-year-old actress was the said favorite of James. Digital Spy reported that the author immediately fell in love with her after watching "The Descendants." She's young, innocent and mysterious, not to mention her alluring eyes that would attract any potential Mr. Grey counterpart.
Speaking of Christian, the race for the coveted role persists. The clear frontrunners remain the same, the top two being Matt Bomer from "White Collar" and Ian Somerhalder from "The Vampire Diaries," however, it's still anyone's game. Of the two top dogs, Bomer continues to rake in monsoons of "50 Shades" attention, trumping the vampire heartthrob.
Bomer has been featured in a handful of fan-made trailers for the film adaptation of "50 Shades of Grey," usually alongside "Gilmore Girls'" Alexis Bledel, and now even more 'Bomer for Christian' videos are gaining traction online. One in particular features not only the lovely Bomer and Bledel, but the entire cast as well, including the supporting roles. Fellow top Christian contender Ian Somerhalder plays Jack Hyde in the video that has accumulated more than 52,000 views since its debut on April 25. Check out the mock trailer below.
But if you think that's impressive, a separate "50 Shades" trailer featuring the same Bomer and Bledel combo, including a brief cameo from Blake Lively, who's also been tossed in the Anastasia arena, has generated nearly 942,000 in the past three months. Check it out below.
So what do you think? Matt Bomer and Shailene Woodley for Christian and Anastasia?
