Many Robin Thicke fans are glad to hear that the celebrated R&B singer has finally earned his first no. 1 single. His song "Blurred Lines," which features TI and Pharrell Williams, has soared to the top spot, breaking the records for the U.K.'s fastest-selling single of the year.

The song also has an interesting backstory, one that has certainly attracted listeners. The original music video for "Blurred Lines" features Thicke with TI and Williams alongside three supermodels, dancing around scantly dressed against white walls. The video is provocative, sexy, classy and invigorating. A perfect match for the song. But then the unedited version came out, and it changed everything.

The explicit version is essentially the one and the same, besides one major difference: the models are topless, making it just a tad more memorable for most viewers. Once the unrated video made its way into public hands, there was no stopping it, and the more people watched the video, the more they listened to the song. The video made the song popular, and once it achieved worldwide recognition, people tapped into its simplistic, funky chopped beat, catchy falsettos, and overall feel good groove. The video may have given the track a boost up the charts, however, it deserves its recognition. Check out the 'tame' version of the music video below.

Not only has Thicke managed to top the U.K. charts, but he's got plenty of new music on the way. His sixth studio album, called "Blurred Lines," will hit stores this summer. In addition to the No. 1 single, Thicke has provided fans with a second song from the upcoming album called "4 The Rest of My Life." Give it a listen here.

Thicke has yet to announce an official release date for "Blurred Lines," but based on what we've heard so far, it will be one of his best.
