The week is coming to a close. The spring is bleeding into summer. Although it should be a time of jubilance and optimism, "50 Shades of Grey" fans remain glum. June begins tomorrow, and there's still no word from E. L. James or Universal Studios concerning their casting decisions for the upcoming "50 Shades" film. It doesn't come as much surprise. By now, most fans are numb to the disappointment. They will make a decision one day. When that will be is up for debate, however fans have been diligent and patient. As they wait, fan polls, twitter rumors and mock trailers have taken their mind off their frustration. Several names continue to top polls and get fans drooling, but every week it's a different story, and although Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer remain top contenders for the role of Christian Grey, a new potential candidate is making a ruckus, "50 Shades" style.

Former "Vampire Diaries" star Matt Davis has stepped into "50 Shades" contention. It may seem a little random, but it's fitting. "Of all the dudes, probably the most well-adapted, and most closely resembling the [Christian Grey] sketch is Matt Davis," Hollywood.com reporter Alicia Lutes writes. "The actor from 'Legally Blonde' and 'Vampire Diaries' would be a surprisingly good choice for the role, given his previous work and, well, his looks. Cockiness is key here, my dudes. Sure, he may not look like he's going to physically harm you in some weird-sexual way when he has his way with you, but this movie is probably not going to be X-Rated, or even NC-17, so, you know, concessions must be made."

And who would play alongside Davis? Well there are plenty of young starlets fitting for the role of Anastasia Steele, the most popular being Emilia Clarke and Alexis Bledel, but once again, a new, surprising contender has entered the arena. It may sound a little farfetched, so brace yourselves. Lindsay Lohan is now interested in the role to try and revive her acting career.

"Lindsay needs a big profile role," one of her friends told Naughty But Nice Rob. "She needs to be part of a movie everyone wants to see and thinks 'Fifty' is a role she would be perfect for. She has read the book several times and knows this is a character that she can play. She wants to be part of something iconic, something that will live forever like 'Harry Potter' of 'The Hunger Games.' Now, she thinks she has found it."

That's a tall order, but an intriguing one at that. What do you think? Davis and Lohan for Christian and Anastasia?
