A low-cost iPad mini is expected to launch soon with the long-rumored cheaper iPhone.

Citi Research analyst Glen Yeung, in a note to investors, stated Apple is shifting their marketing strategies and have more inexpensive products. The products Yeung referred to are the iPad mini and iPhone.

"Supply chain checks by Citi's Asia-Pac Technology Team suggest a mix shift surprisingly toward Apple's older iPhone4/4S," wrote Yeung.

"And with our expectation of a low-end iPhone slated for September launch, followed by a sub-$250 iPad Mini, we expect this trend to persist," added the Citi analyst.

Yeung's forecast is in reference to a comment made by Apple's Chief Operating Officer Peter Oppenheimer.

The Apple COO previously stated during a conference call, "We are managing the business for the long term and are willing to trade off short-term profits where we see long-term potential."

According to Yeung, the low-cost iPhone will come during the September quarter and could sell 15 million units. Yeung's estimate is five million units more compared to the iPhone 5S, although he added that the low-budget iPhone could match the iPhone 5S instead.

As Latinos Post previously reported, BGR stated the iPhone 5S will feature a "significant internal redesign" upon its fall launch. BGR also apparently obtained photos of a number of components that "will be" included in the next Apple smartphone.
