With Neymar headed to Barcelona, the world's attention will now turn to Wayne Rooney, Gareth Bale, and Robert Lewandowski. Bale is the biggest mystery of the three as his status is unknown. While most assume that Lewandowski and Rooney are headed away from their respective clubs, many wonder whether Bale is ready to leave North London for greener pastures. One team linked with the midfielder is Real Madrid. Madrid recently made a huge bid for Neymar but lost the Brazilian star to its biggest rivals. This means that the team will likely increase its action for Bale.
Former Real Madrid superstar Zinedane Zidane has praised Bale all year long and it seems that he is ready to see the 23-year old suit up for Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"I've been watching Tottenham for the reason that Gareth Bale has been playing there," Zidane said recently. "Aside from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, he is the player who has impressed me the most. All of the talented players like that can come to Real Madrid. Is he good enough for Real Madrid? Of course. He is more than good enough to play for Real Madrid."
Zidane added that Bale possesses something that only great players have.
"What has particularly impressed me is that he is consistent. He is consistently scoring spectacular goals and very important goals. He is very quick, skillful and exciting," he added.
Bale had a breakout year for Tottenham. After tallying nine premier league goals in 36 games in 2011-12, he put up 21 goals in 34 matches; he scored 30 goals in all competitions for Tottenham throughout the 2012-13 season. Despite his heroics, his team failed to win in the Europa League and also missed out on a Champions league berth in 2013-14. Bale has recently stated his commitment to the club, but a terrific offer from a fine club like Real Madrid could sway him to make the move.
