A vintage Apple computer has been sold for 516,000 euros or US$668,000. According to Berlin-based auction house, Breker, the device was one of the brand's very first computers. Created in 1976, the sold item is still in working condition.

The auction house revealed on Saturday, that an Asian bidder bought the item. Choosing to be anonymous, the Asian bought a very rare item. The so-called Apple 1 on auction was one of only six working devices of its kind in the world, reported FOX News. The item was reportedly built by Apple founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak at a garage.

The hefty price of the device comes with its scarcity and what it represents.

"It is a superb symbol of the American dream," said Uwe Breker, the auctioneer, as reported by The New York Times. "You have two college dropouts from California who pursued an idea and a dream, and that dream becomes one of the most admired, successful and valuable companies in the world."

The item initially sold for $666 in 1976, or an equivalent of $2,700 today.

According to The NY Times, the former owner of the auctioned computer was Fred Hatfield, a retired electrical engineer from New Orleans. In the news article, Hatfield reportedly attached a photo of the letter Jobs sent him in January 18, 1978 when he bought the computer.

Last year, an Apple 1 machine was also sold at an outrage amount as well, selling for 492,000 euros.

According to reports, the item sold on Saturday included a signature of Wozniak and an "old business transaction letter from the late Jobs," reported FOX.

The original item sold in the 70s only included a circuit board, a keyboard and a monitor had to be bought separately.
