Gameplay from Destiny, the first game for Halo developer Bungie since they parted ways with the series, is still under wraps, but a recent trailer announces that E3 will mark the grand debut of the game to the press. Variety claims that the trailer, a mix of live action and CGI, was directed by Iron Man and Elf director Jon Favreau and features Breaking Bad and Revolution star Giancarlo Esposito.
The video features Esposito reading from Rudyard Kipling's "The Second Jungle Book" about the laws of the jungle. Meanwhile, several human characters battle aliens on both the Moon and what appears to be Mars. The three humans dominate the aliens in a variety of ways and the commercial also includes vehicle combat and a giant alien rising up to face the three humans. The clip ends with the announcement that gameplay from Destiny will be shown June 10.
The video does an excellent job of making Destiny feel like a big budget production, with both Favreau and Esposito doing an excellent job of making the game both look and sound amazing. The trailer carries the same feeling as watching some of the movie trailers for some of the most anticipated sci-fi movies coming this summer, such as Pacific Rim and Ender's Game, again, due to Favreau's experienced directing and Esposito's unique voice.
Destiny is one of the most anticipated games for both current and next-gen systems, and is expected to launch in 2014. But hype for the game has been growing steadily and once the gameplay footage from the game is shown, surely that trend will continue.
