Eva Longoria adds yet another achievement to her roster of notable success. The former Desperate Housewives star has just completed graduate school and now has a master's degree in Chicano studies.
The 38-year-old actress was all smiles Wednesday morning as she got ready for her commencement exercise, receiving her degree from Cal State University Northridge (CSUN). And it's worth noting that the degree isn't an honorary one, as Longoria really did enroll in the school, attended classes and even took pop-quizzes and tests to receive the Graduate diploma. Longoria did all this while balancing a full acting career.
According to a TMZ report, the Golden Globe-nominee started taking her Chicano studies courses while still working on the ABC series Desperate Housewives three years ago. Attending her classes personally, determined to finish the course, Longoria made time for schoolwork on-set and in between tapings.
"Big day today!!! Very excited to graduate for my Master's degree in Chicano Studies! You're never too old or too busy to continue your education!" posted the star on her Whosay account.
Receiving a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology at the Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the star has always advocated ights and privileges of Latinos in the United States. And aarlier this month, Eva attended the Senate Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee assembly to encourage support for Latina business owners.
"Diversity breeds innovation, and that is what our country needs right now," said Longoria in a speech at the senate meeting, as reported by BizJournals.com.
"Latinas are one of our nation's greatest natural resources, and we have to treat them as such. If we invest in giving Latinas the tools to unlock their potential today, we can create a brighter economic future for our country."
With her graduate degree, Eva joins a small group of actors that have received a post bachelor's degree. Some of these include Hill Harper of CSI and James Franco of Oz: the Great and Powerful.
