Sofia Vergara is arguably the hottest Latina star in Hollywood at the moment-and not just for her looks.
Since starring in the ABC hit comedy "Modern Family," the Colombian bombshell has taken off, her crossover appeal helping her land contracts with Cover Girl and a fashion line with Kmart. But now, Vergara appears to be returning to the roots that made her a superstar.
According to NBC Latino, Vergara has just finished filming a new telenovela that will be broadcast in every Latin American country except Brazil.
This is not Vergara's first venture into the world of telenovelas, as she has had roles on telenovelas such as "Amas de Casa Desesperadas" and "Acapulco, Cuerpo y Alma." But this project, an eight-episode mini telenovela, marks her return to Spanish television since landing her gig with "Modern Family" in 2009 and her ambition to remain with one foot in the powerful Spanish-speaking market that helped launch her career.
While the details of the project, shot in Long Island, N.Y., and Vergara's role in it are being kept hushed, Vergara could not contain her excitement.
"I had so much fun creating this project and I hope people throughout Latin America enjoy it," said Vergara in a press release. "For now I'm not able to offer more details about it - it's going to be a surprise."
Vergara was also having a busy time this week during the Covergirl Summer Launch Party in New York City, where she sported a red dress that flaunted her famous curves.
