Iran's state radio has confirmed that the country executed two men convicted of spying for Israel and the US, reports the Assoicated Press.
Mohammad Heidari was accused of providing Israel's Mossad with classified information in exchange for money. He was found guilty of passing intelligence on "security issues and national secrets," reads the report. Kourosh Ahmadi was executed for allegedly giving the American CIA intelligence agency info on Iran, said Tehran's prosecutor's office, according to the BBC.
Both men were hanged, although the report did not mention when the men were arrested or tried.Their execution was handed down by Tehran's Revolutionary Court and confirmed by the Supreme Court.
Tehran accuses Israel and the U.S. of spying on its vital interests, particularly its nuclear program, which the West suspects is aimed at building an atomic weapon. Tehran denies the charge insisting its program is for peaceful purposes.
Nonetheless, Israel and the U.S have not ruled out a military option against Iran's nuclear facilities.
Earlier this year, the Supreme Court overturned the death sentence given to Iranian-American national Amir Mirzai Hekmati who was accused of spying for the CIA. Both Mr Hekmati and the US deny the spying allegations. The judge found the verdict was "not complete" and ordered a retrial.
