As the premiere date for the final season of 'Dexter' inches closer and closer, fans anxiously await to find out what will happen to Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter). SHOWTIME has given fans a few teasers and photos before the June 30 premiere and now it has released a full season eight trailer.
The nearly three minutes-long video shows just how strained Dexter and Deb's relationship is after she killed Lt. Maria LaGuerta (Lauren Vélez) to protect him in the season seven finale. Deb has quickly spiraled out of control and has turned to drugs, alcohol and sex to relieve her guilt.
When Dexter finally confronts her, Deb simply says, "My life is none of your business. You made me compromise everything about myself that I care about and I hate you for it. I shot the wrong person in that trailer." Dexter is clearly concerns about his effect on his sister's life but also how her downward spiral will affect him.
Fans also meet Dr. Evelyn Vogel (recurring guest star Charlotte Rampling), an expert on psychopaths who could prove to be a problem for Dexter. However, while Dr. Vogel may be a threat, it may turn out that Deb will be Dexter's ultimate downfall. The trailer ends with a visibly intoxicated Deb arriving at the police station to make an "official statement." A new photo from SHOWTIME also hints at Dexter's demise through his sister.
The final season of 'Dexter' will premiere later next month and will include several guest stars, including Charlotte Rampling, Bethany Joy Lenz and Yvonne Strahovski. Strahovski will reprise her role as Hannah McKay, while Lenz will take up the role of Cassie, Dexter's new next door neighbor.
'Dexter' season 8 premiers on June 30 at 9 p.m. EST on SHOWTIME.
