Cristiano Ronaldo has been consistently linked with a transfer to Manchester United. Many think that Ronaldo's price tag could make the move impossible. In an unprecedented move, a group of Manchester United fans have started a campaign to help their club sign the beloved superstar.
The campaign, known as "Bring Ronaldo Home," asks fans to make donations to help the team pay for the transfer.
"We are a team which consists of both passionate football supporters and enthusiasts for leading change. We are operating under the corporate entity, Equius Ltd based in the UK, but we are not here to talk about ourselves," says the website. "All pledge details will be passed onto Manchester United as well as all funds raised. Man U club shop with the assistance of Nike will ensure that all pledges are fulfilled."
Fans are so confident in retaining the 28-year old that they believe "His speed, height, technical ability will help ensure Manchester United win the 2014 Champions League Trophy."
The website claims that any donations will be refunded if Ronaldo does not return to Manchester United.
Ronaldo has reportedly stated a desire to return to the Old Trafford. "28 year old [Ronaldo] has told a senior Man United player that he would consider the possibility of a move back to the club he spent six seasons with prior to his £80m move to the Spanish giants in 2009," said publication Caught Offside.
"It felt very good there, it was like a family. I had six great years there and am still friends with my team-mates," Ronaldo stated last December. "It is thanks to Manchester United that I am here playing for Real Madrid. Without them, I wouldn't be the player I am today."
