The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini could be available as soon as May 30, according to the latest rumors. New leaked pics show what the smaller model could look like.

"Today we were able to test the Galaxy S4 Mini and made some pictures to get an idea of the phone. Our initial impressions are definitely good. Galaxy S4 Mini is not inferior in any way to his older brother. The device is extremely fast, with a great camera and a beautiful display," writes Smartnews, translated from the Bulgarian.

The photos show a phone similar to leaked pics we've seen before. There's the telltale textured back cover, and the camera and flash location match the redesign of the Galaxy S4.

Samsung has an event scheduled for May 30, but there's no word yet on what exactly it will be announcing. It seems likely Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S4 Mini, since waiting much longer could prevent them from cashing in on their flagship phone's coattails.

Rumors say Samsung will also unveil the Galaxy S4 Active, a rugged, waterproof version of the Galaxy S4 that can handle short dunks, as well as the Galaxy S4 Zoom, a mid-tier offering that comes with a 16-megapixel camera.

This strategy of developing variations on a popular theme is working for Samsung, and there are no signs of it abating. Just yesterday, it announced a partnership with Google to offer a Galaxy S4 running the stock Android operating system.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will likely come in several versions featuring either a quad-core or dual-core processor, single or dual SIMs, a 4.3-inch 960x540 qHD display, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung's TouchWiz UX interface.
