Canada will look to take down Sweden in the quarterfinals of the IIHF World Championships.

The two sides met in the group stage where Canada took down the Swedes 3-0. NHL stars Steve Stamkos, Luke Schenn, and Jordan Staal tallied for Canada while Mike Smith earned the shutout with 33 saves in the game. Buffalo Sabres goalie Jhonas Enroth lost the game but made 22 saves on 25 shots.

The Canadians finished group play in second place with 18 points in seven games. They took down Denmark 3-1 in their opener before losing to first place Switzerland 3-2 in the shootout. Against Norway, Canada broke out with a 7-1 victory. They would finish off the first round with a 3-0 win against Sweden, a 4-1 victory over Belarus, a 2-1 win against the Czech Republic, and a 4-3 overtime win against Slovenia.

Stamkos led Canada with six goals and five assists. Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux also put up two goals and five assists in the first round. Goalie Mike Smith has played 185 minutes and has only conceded four goals. His 1.30 goals against average and .957 save percentage is best in the entire tournament.

Sweden's tournament started with a loss to Switzerland. Back to back wins against the Czech Republic and Belarus were followed by the loss to Canada. Sweden finished off the group stage with a 2-0 win against Slovenia and a 4-2 victory against Denmark. Enroth played a monstrous 230:48 and conceded only five goals. He has a 1.30 GAA and a .942 save percentage.

Prediction: Canada wins 2-1.
