The latest installment in the Scribblenauts franchise will feature a wide variety of DC Comics superheroes and villains in the newest edition of the puzzle/platformer video game. Warner Brothers announced that Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure will be available on the Wii U, 3DS, and PC later this year, and is being developed by 5th Cell.

The game will feature series protagonist Maxwell as he interacts with several DC Comic icons in a variety of locations, such as Wayne Manor, The Batcave, The Fortress of Solitude, and the planet Oa, home of the Green Lantern Corps. Along the way, several characters will make appearances. Lex Luthor, Bane, Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, Two Face, Riddler, Joker, The Penguin and more show up in the gamefor the villains, while Batman, Robin, The Flash, Superman, and Wonder Woman have been confirmed as well. The game also promises to have other, lesser known characters from the DC Comics universe such as Black Flash be available. Players will also be able to customize existing characters and make them switch hero or villian roles. For example, in the announcement trailer Doomsday is shown getting revamped into  heroic Super Doomsday.

Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure is the latest in a series of games that Warner Bros has made with DC Comics. In the past, the popular Lego video game series included two entries featuring Batman. Injustice: Gods Among Us, created by Mortal Kombat studio NetherRealm, featured several DC characters in a critically acclaimed brawler that is currently dominating the sales charts. In addition, later this year the third Batman: Arkham video game will be released, entitled Batman, Arkham Origins, as well as a MOBA-inspired game called Infinite Crisis.

Scribblenauts was recently in the news when the creators of the popular Nyan Cat and Keyboard Cat memes sued 5th Cell and Warner Bros for copyright infringement over use of their creations without their respective permissions.
