The second picture to "Divergent" have been revealed.
The picture, revealed on Entertainment Weekly, shows Shailene Woodley on a ledge surrounded by a number of people. Neil Burger told the magazine that the scene had already taken place. He added that it shows Beatrice "Tris" Prior about to jump from the building down through a courtyard that has a deep, black hole. He stated "it's terrifying" and "we shot this at the Spiegel building, and what we're looking at is the real deal. Woodley's really up on that ledge. How dauntless of her!"
The film, based on the Veronica Roth novel, sets the story in a dystopian Chicago, where society has been broken up into five factions, which determine a person's way of life. The story begins with Woodley's character Tris learning that she's "Divergent," which means she won't fit into any one faction. Tris chooses her faction and begins her training, while trying to keep her newly revealed nature a secret as she attempts to find her place among her people.
The new movie will be the first installment of the three part series. The next movie will be "Insurgent" followed by the novel "Allegiant" which will be released on October 22, 2013. The series has been compared with "The Hunger Games" and will arrive only a few months after that franchise's second movie "Catching Fire."
Woodley is best known for her Golden Globe role in "The Descendants." She recently wrapped filming on "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" where she will play the role of Mary Jane Watson. The actress next appears in the Sundance Award winner "The Spectacular Now."
Summit will release the film on March 21,2014 and will also star Kate Winslet, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Zoe Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ray Stevenson, Mekhi Phifer and Tony Goldwyn.
