On Monday May 13th William Levy's new telenovela will finally premiere on El Canal de las Estrellas in Mexico.
The series, starring William Levy, Ximena Navarrete and Ivan Sanchez, tells the story of Damian (Levy ) and Marina (Navarrete). Marina is a manager at a hotel who gets fired from her work when she discovers her boss sexually abusing a co-worker and denounces him. At the same time she receives the news that her mother has a serious illness and must move to a new town.
Meanwhile Damian is a young Captain of the boat "La Tempestad." He works for a factory "El Neptuno" owned by Mercedes (Daniela Romo). Mercedes offers a job to Marina who accepts because they would be living in a better area for her mother. However Mercedes has double intentions because she is Marina's real mother. She was forced to give up her daughter when she was young and therefore dedicated her life to saving the lives of many young women.
When Marina moves to the town she meets Damian and Hernan Saldana (Ivan Sanchez), a former schoolmate who does illegal business and attempts to ruin El Neptuno. As a result Marina and Damian decide to join forces to save the company.
The series was produced by Salvador Mejia and the theme song was sung Christina Aguilera and Alejandro Fernandez which premiered on Youtube this past week. Production began in March in Veracruz and later went to the studio. The series also stars Laura Carmine, Jessica Coch, Diana Bracho, Cesar Evora, Alfonso Herrera, Latin Lover and Luis Manuel Avila. "La Tempestad" is based on the Colombian telenovela "La Tormenta."
Levy, Navarrete and Sanchez are currently doing press rounds and performing scenes from the telenovela. The series will go back into production after the television premiere.
A US release date has yet to be announced but is rumored to happen in the fall.
