What the next gen Xbox will be called has remained a mystery ever since the console was rumored to be in development. While many fans have labeled the device the Xbox 720, Microsoft has yet to indicate that they would continue the trend started with the Xbox 360. Well now a new article by The International Business Times has announced that Microsoft is planning to call the next-gen Xbox will be called Xbox Infinity.
"Sources related to development of the new Xbox have confirmed to IBTimes UK that the console... will be called Infinity,"
This is supported by a leaked Reddit image that shows the allegedly new logo for the console, which has the traditional Xbox logo with a infinity symbol in the upper right hand corner. While nothing has been confirmed by Microsoft, the reveal date for the advice is set for May 21, so fans will not have to wait long to see what the next-gen Xbox will be called.
The device has acquired many different nicknames throughout this time of rumors. While some have called it the Xbox 720, others have called it Durango, based on the company's codename for the project. Other possibilities include Xbox Gold, Loop, and Fusion. Microsoft has refused to address any rumors directly about the next Xbox, thus leading to the many different fan names of the console.
The article also mentions that developers already have dev kits for the next Xbox, indicating that the expected release date of around the holidays could indeed happen. However, developers have refused to confirm if games coming to next gen consoles, such as Battlefield 4 and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag are coming to the newest Xbox.
The answer to both the name of the console and what games will appear on the console should be answered on May 21, so interested readers should circle that date on their calendars.
