Summer is almost here, and soon kids and teenagers will be able to run free for a few months. However, for those wishing to stay indoors during the hot months ahead, here are the top paid apps in the Apple Store for the iPhone and iPad.

1. Heads Up! ($0.99, Warner Bros)- This game, made famous by an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, has players taking turns putting their device on their forehead and trying to guess what word is on the card based on their friend's clues. A clever twist on a classic card game, this is a great way to spend some time with family and friends.

2. WhatsApp Messenger ($0.99, WhatsApp Inc.)- Tired of merely texting your friends? with WhatsApp, you can send texts to a group of people, with pictures, audio, and video messages also available. Whatsapp offers the chance to communicate in a wide variety of ways to fit whatever mood you are in.

3. Survivalcraft ($3.99, Igor Kalicinski)- If this seems like a Minecraft clone...it is. Putting more emphasis on the survival aspect of the open-world construction genre, This game is a few dollars less than Minecraft, but offers the same thrill of exploring a world and building whatever pops into your head.

4. Minecraft: Pocket Edition ($6.99, Mojang)- For those looking for a more robust Survivalcraft experience, there is always the original block-based aventure/construction game. With multiplayer options and a wealth of different options, Minecraft remains one of the most popular games on the Apple Store.

5. Bastion ($0.99, Warner Bros)- This RPG already was a hit for XBLA and Steam, but the iOS version of the game is very popular in its own right. The game is one sale for a limited time, so fans of action RPG's should download this game quick while it is less than a dollar.
