Customers looking to pick up an HTC One can snag a big discount if they trade in their phones this weekend. In addition to its usual $100 trade-in program, HTC is now offering up to $375 for your old smartphone when you purchase a One.
The extra incentive only runs through this Sunday, May 5, though.
Here's a partial list of eligible phones and their values, though it looks like HTC is accepting almost any smartphone, no matter how old.
iPhone 5: $300 - $375
iPhone 4S: $200 - $255
Samsung Galaxy S3: $130 - $210
Blackberry Z10: $250
Motorola Droid Razr: $100 - $184
LG Optimus 4X HD: $150
Blackberry Curve, Blackberry Bold: $100
The values for individual phones vary depending on features and condition. It's not an instant rebate, so you'll need to shell out the full price for an HTC One, then mail in your old phone before the end of the month. HTC will send you a Prepaid Visa card you can use online or in any store that accepts Visa.
Of course, that won't help you pay your rent, but it's the next best thing to a check.
The $100 trade-in program should continue for the foreseeable future, so if your phone won't net more than $100, there's no rush. Newer phones might go for more on the open market than HTC is willing to shell out, but that usually involves Craigslist and at least one furtive meeting in a public space.
If you're dying to get a One, this is the weekend to do it.
The HTC One features a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch 1920x1080 pixel widescreen Super LCD 3 display, a 2300 mAh Li-Po battery, a 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" camera with enhanced low-light sensitivity with 1080p HD video, up to 64GB of internal storage and runs Android 4.1.2.
