The upcoming iOS 7 may integrate its features with cars, if latest reports prove accurate.
Apple is reportedly working with car manufacturers to install Apple Maps and Siri services into their vehicles.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Apple wants the car markers to update their consoles so it can attach to iOS devices, notably the iPhone, so they can be plugged into the vehicle and display Apple Maps. With the iOS connected, the plan is to have Siri control the Maps functions and corresponding iOS features.
Apple has previously worked with Audio, BMW, Honda, Land Rover, and Toyota on providing an "Eyes-Free" Siri service.
With Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) approaching next month, Apple could provide further details on the initiative.
The 2013 WWDC has been speculated to debut iOS 7, which could feature the enhanced car integration as the conference is geared in providing sessions on developing and integrating technologies.
Tickets to attend the WWDC are sold out, but Apple stated they will provide opportunities to Apple fans to know what's going on from June 10 to June 14.
"Our developers have had the most prolific and profitable year ever, and we're excited to show them the latest advances in software technologies and developer tools to help them create innovative new apps," said Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller. "We can't wait to get new versions of iOS and OS X into their hands at WWDC."
