Now that the "bro-mitvah" is over, there are only two episodes remaining in season 8 of "How I Met Your Mother." Hopefully Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) can recover from his hangover by then. At least we'd hope so considering it's his wedding. It's all leading up to the finale and there's plenty to look forward to in the remaining episodes.
Next week's episode will be called "Something Old," and will feature Robin (Cobie Smulders) as she desperately searches for "something she buried in Central Park years earlier for the wedding," according to Spoilers Guide. "Meanwhile, Marshall Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan) ask for Ted's (Josh Radnor) help packing for Italy, and Barney bonds with Robin Sr.," perhaps over a game of Laser Tag.
So Marshall and Lily are actually going to Italy? It's unclear whether this means "HIMYM" will be picking up and moving to Rome or the their stay will be short-lived, but we can be confident that it doesn't mean the beloved couple will be leaving the show. There's no way they could leave. They're pivotal to the show's development. Their relationship has withstood the best and the worst. Fans feel a connection toward them. You can't just take that away, right?
We also know that Lily may have what Robin is looking for and her reluctance to give it up is causing turmoil between the two friends.
The finale episode will be called "Something New" and follows the gang as they prepare to leave for the wedding. Meanwhile, Barney and Robin's relaxing night out is ruined by the "world's most annoying couple." What does that entail? Well...
"In case you were wondering, yes, the mother does come into play in the season finale," E! Online reports. Could she be part of the annoying couple that compromises the romantic night out? The couple will be played by Casey Wilson from "Happy Endings" and "Saturday Night Live" and Keegan-Michael Key from "Key & Peele" and "MADtv."
It's also been rumored that the finale will end on a major cliffhanger, which could mean one of two things: either we finally meet the mother and it's not who we'd expect, or Barney and Robin fail to tie the knot yet again. TV Guide reveals that "Lily will learn that Ted is still - still! - uncomfortable with Barney and Robin's impending nuptials and thinks it's time to make a big move."
There's just so much at stake. The final two episodes will undoubtedly serve as a climatic end to season 8. "How I Met Your Mothers" airs Monday nights on CBS.
