Radamel Falcao has been linked with Chelsea for months and the move has become increasingly likely as the summer gets closer. The person most affected by the move is Spanish striker Fernando Torres who could find himself out of the lineup, and even off the team, with the arrival of the Colombian star.
However, Torres does not seem shaken by the prospect of losing his spot. In fact, he seems to embrace the challenge. "It's not a problem at all. I have always felt part of the club," Torres told the press last week. "Things have changed [since last year when he appeared to be an understudy for Didier Drogba] and you could see this season that I've been the main striker, then Demba Ba came to join the club. But I really think the club always told me the truth."
Torres was replaced a year ago by Didier Drogba as the team's top option at the striker option and the purchase of Demba Ba had similar intentions. However, Torres has been on fire for the team with a few big goals in the Europa League.
"I think the work I'm doing is the work I was doing many years before," he said about his preparation, "so my body is used to it and it's helping me. I feel better at the moment, but it may be because I've been rested more since Demba arrived. Normally at this time of the season I feel tired, but it's not been the case this season as we've both been rested."
Nobody would question where Falcao belongs if he were to join Chelsea's arsenal of strikers. The Colombian has 26 goals in 30 games for Atletico Madrid has been a major reason for the club's fine form this year. Meanwhile Torres has only produced seven goals in 26 premier league matches; he has four goals in seven Europa league contests.
