Zack Snyder has not always been looked upon with great respect from his critics. In fact, many showed skepticism when it was announced that the helmer would take over the Superman franchise. However, the director recently stated that he was happy with his latest film and that he wants to return Superman to his prominent position among superhero depictions onscreen.

"It's the most realistic movie I've made," Snyder said in an interview according to the LA Times. "There's no tongue in anyone's cheek. I'm not apologizing for Superman in any way. I'm saying, 'Superman is a thing that must be taken seriously and embraced and understood.'"

He added, "When you talk about superhero action movies, there is Batman of course, and I think that Chris (Nolan) laid a lot of important groundwork. And there are the Marvel movies... I don't mean it as an insult, Iron Man and Hulk are strong superheroes, but we've never had a superhero movie where everyone can go, 'Yeah, I understand the why of the whole thing.' Superman is a character who deciphers the why of superheroes."

There has been a major rumor going around that the director might be taking charge of the hotly anticipated "Justice League of America" movie. According to JoBlo, the director has considered the DC Universe in the making of "Man of Steel."

"In a weird way it is also the DC world. I have been making references to the DC universe, just to let you know that world is out there," he admitted.

According to JoBlo, "Warner Bros.' long-term view has been revised to embrace this new vision, just as the Dark Knight films resisted the commodification of Marvel. Whether we get a Justice League, they say, depends on MAN OF STEEL. If we do, they say, Zack Snyder will be asked to direct."

Man of Steel releases June 14, 2013 and stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent (Superman), Lawrence Fishburne as Perry White, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent. Michael Shannon will play the villain General Zod.
