Activision's social media manager Dan Amrich took to Youtube to field questions from gamers, and he revealed that fans of the Call of Duty franchise can expect news about the next game in the series sometime soon, possibly at the E3 Conference in June.
"We're still deep in the middle of the Black Ops 2 cycle, and there's still a lot more content to come...So you can understand why Activision hasn't really talked about next year yet, but they're going to have to soon, because E3 is coming up."
Amrich also clarified that, while he expects Activision to release information about the next Call of Duty soon, there is still plenty of life left in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which recently released it's second DLC pack for the Xbox 360. In addition, the challenges that come with a new generation of consoles being released may also affect how Activision goes about the next Call of Duty game.
"We don't know what the future of Call of Duty is going to be other than that there will be a future..We also have the interesting problem of new hardware coming out. We've got a PS4, we've got whatever Xbox is working on - is that going to be this year? I don't know."
However, despite the potential roadblocks that may hit the next game in the series, Amrich is confident that gamers will receive new information about the upcoming Call of Duty game, believed to be by many as Modern Warfare 4 or the rumored Ghost project, by the time E3 begins in June.
"If you're looking for information on the future, it's coming soon. It's just not here yet. And it should be here no later than E3. Just be a little patient and I think you'll hear some more information very soon."
