Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park is celebrating its 15-year anniversary today and is commemorating the milestone with ceremonies and a full slate of special events throughout the day.
The theme park giant is also incorporating Earth Day festivities with the anniversary of the nature-inspired park, calling the celebration a "Party for the Planet" that will endure for a week.
"As a proud member of the Disney's Animal Kingdom opening team, I can say with assurance that every day is a Party for the Planet at Disney's Animal Kingdom, as guests and cast members join together to celebrate the wonders of nature," Dr. Jackie Ogden, vice president of Animals, Science and Environment for Disney Parks, posted on the Disney Parks Blog.
An opening ceremony this morning in front one of the park's landmark's, the Tree of Life, featured an appearance by Josh D'Amaro and Ogden.
And among a variety of celebrations, there was a "Circle of Life" performance from the park's "Festival of the Lion King" show that is inspired by Disney's hallmark animated film "The Lion King."
For all of you planning to join in the weeklong celebration at Disney's youngest but largest theme park, here are some tips for you posted by Ogden:
