"Man of Steel" is due for release in a few months and some spoilers have already been released by a number of sources, including the film's screenwriter. David Goyer recently chatted with Entertainment Weekly and revealed a number of plot points in the film that could spoil the film for some viewers.
SPOILER ALERT
Goyer stated that Superman, or Kal-El as he is born on Kryton, is born illegally in "Man of Steel." "People were bred to be warriors or scientists or what-have-you, and there's a whole element in the movie about nature versus nurture," said Goyer. "Kal-El is unique because he's a natural conception, free from genetic manipulation to choose his own course in life, which also makes his existence highly illegal."
Additionally, Goyer revealed major information about one of the franchise's major plot devices: Kryptonite. "I'll be honest with you. There's no kryptonite in the movie," he said. In the same interview, actor Henry Cavill added that there was "emotional kryptonite."
"Although he is not susceptible to the frailties of mankind, [Superman] is definitely susceptible to the emotional frailties," said the actor.
Forbes Magazine adds that in one sequence, Superman goes to negotiate with General Zod aboard the latter's ship. In that scene, Lois Lane also joins in and is "aided" by Faora.
Regarding the villain, actor Michael Shannon also revealed that "[Zod] actually has some affection for anybody who's a Kryptonian, including Superman. He doesn't really have any malignant feelings toward him; he just wants him to be patriotic."
"Man of Steel" will star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent (Superman), Lawrence Fishburne as Perry White, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent. Michael Shannon will also play the villain General Zod. The film has received a PG-13 rating and will come out in theaters on June 14, 2013.
