The battle to be the first U.S carrier to offer the Samsung Galaxy S4 continues to heat up. AT&T has moved up the ship date for many of its Galaxy S4 devices to Apr. 23.

That's a day before the phone will be available on T-Mobile, putting AT&T in the lead. Sprint follows soon after, likely Apr. 27.

Verizon lags behind the rest, releasing the Galaxy S4 sometime in May, though there's no specific date available yet.

AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile have long jockeyed to be the first carrier to offer a new phone stateside. Last year, T-Mobile and Sprint won the race with the Galaxy S3, while AT&T got it a week later, and Verizon a week after that.

AT&T and Sprint have the HTC One already, but T-Mobile doesn't get it until Apr. 24. Verizon isn't even offering the phone.

Of course, this is just the shopping date for the Galaxy S4; it will take several days for consumers to receive the phone, and there's no word on whether AT&T stores will have the Galaxy S4 in stock on the 23rd.

And T-Mobile could always move up its release date a day or two, though there's currently no way to know of the carrier is in a position to do that.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 1.6GHz eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor or a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor (depending on country), 2GB of RAM, a 5-inch 1920x1080 Full HD AMOLED display at 441 ppi, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, internal storage between 16 and 64GB, an SD card slot that can accommodate an additional 64GB, a polycarbonate body, Smart Pause and floating touch tech and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
