There has been much speculation as to what exactly the Google X phone from Motorola will be, and when it will be released. Well now Motorola has given some indication of when we can expect the phone, but has kept the lid tight on what it is supposed to be.

Jim Wicks, the chief of design at Motorola, recently confirmed that the Google X phone will launch sometime in the second half of 2013. Earlier it had been rumored that the phone was delayed until August, and this could mean we see the phone even later than that.

Wicks also stated that the X phone will come with as little bloatware as possible. Wicks also stated that the X phone is designed to be highly resilient to wear and tear, and that a small, thin bezel will be around the phone's display. However, those wondering about more facts about the phone will have to wait a little bit longer, as this information is all that Wicks gave away.

Some information about the Google X phone can be inferred, despite the lack of details about the phone. Since Google is expected to show off their latest edition of their Android operating system, 5.0 Key Lime Pie at the Google I/O 2013 event in May, it should be expected that the X phone would run on that, instead of the current 4.2 Jelly Bean. Motorola and Google have been focusing on making battery life longer for their phones, so the X phone should have a healthy battery life. The display should have full HD resolution as well, following the recent trend in smartphones, and come in a variety of colors, if the rumors are to be believed.

It looks like we will have to wait a bit until we truly find out what the X phone will be. Will it be the first fully customizable smartphone? Will it be the first model phone to begin overshadowing the Droid line for Motorola? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
