Manchester United will try to move one step closer to its 20th premier league title when it takes on West Ham on Wednesday afternoon.
The team came off a 2-0 win against Stoke City that put them within two victories of the title. With 80 points, and six games remaining Manchester holds a 15 point lead on City which has 65 points with six games to play. City can gain a maximum of 83 points, but a loss on Wednesday for Roberto Mancini's club coupled with a win from United will clinch them the title.
"Now it's West Ham and we have to play well again," United's Nemanja Vidic told MUTV. "They play in a similar style to Stoke - we're going to have long balls and set pieces to deal with. You think you're almost there [winning the title] but you have to win the games."
Robin Van Persie scored his first goal for United in 11 games and continues to lead the team with 20 tallies. He needs to score more to increase his team's chances of clinching the title sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile West Ham is stuck in the middle of the pack with 38 points and knows the challenge of facing the league's top team.
"You have to say the [United] team is as good as it has ever been because nobody normally wins the title so easily and by so big a margin, or has this much of a margin at this stage of the season," said West Ham United coach Sam Allardyce. "It is pretty scary what total they might finish with. Manchester United has been outstanding. Their squad rotation has been Sir Alex's masterpiece as usual, about playing the right team at the right time."
Prediction: United wins 2-0.
