Jaime Foxx has played a wide array of different characters throughout his years. We've seen him as a blind virtuoso musician in "Ray" and rough and tough ex-slave with a serious grudge in "Django Unchained." We've also seen him in a slew of different action and comedy roles, each one distinct and well portrayed. But now Foxx is taking on a role unlike anything he's done in the past. He's painting himself blue and jumping on screen with one of the world's most beloved superheroes, Spider-Man.

On Monday, Foxx could be seen strutting around Times Square in New York in his blue makeup for his role as the super villain, Electro, in the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." To no surprise, many photos were taken, offering fans a first unofficial glimpse at Foxx's costume.

"Electro is a great character," Foxx told Entertainment Tonight in an interview during the early stages of production. "He's a... genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world, and the next thing you know he turns on it." Although a bit cliché, Foxx is sure to bring vibrance and color to the character, in addition to the color blue of course.

In Spider-Man "reality," Electro is a struggling electrician named Maxwell Dillon. Amidst his sorrows, he's one day struck by lightning and becomes "capable of controlling vast amounts of electricity." How electrifying.

Production on "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will move to Rochester, New York in several weeks as filming gets underway. Foxx will star along side Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan, Chris Cooper, Paul Giamatti and Felicity Jones. The film will hit theaters on May 2, 2014.
