Emilio Estefan revealed that he would like Selena Gomez to play his wife Gloria Estefan in the new musical the couple is producing for Broadway.
The record producer told the magazine "People en Espanol" that there were many new actresses who looked like his wife but he thought the best was Gomez. He stated that she would be perfect for the role as she also sings.
When the magazine asked him who he thought would play him, Estefan stated that he was looking for someone a little bit ugly. He added that the rumored actor William Levy would definitely not be playing the role because he was too handsome.
Estefan also stated that they are still in the post-production stages. He stated that they were currently writing the story and the script. He added that their story was an immigrant tale which represented many Latinos and foreigners who had and are struggling to make it. He stated that when they came to the U.S they were rejected but they still managed to make the American Dream come true. Lastly he added that there will be lots of music in the show and that Miami Sound Machine would be part of the production.
Estefan is best known for producing The Latin Grammy's, The Hispanic Heritage Awards, Nuestra Navidad, and high profile productions on HBO and Showtime. He has also shaped, developed and directed the career of many superstars and has won 19 Grammy Awards.
Gomez was last seen in "Spring Breakers" for which she received praise and spurred controversy for appearing half naked in the film. She also voiced the role of Mavis in "Hotel Transylvania" and was seen in "Monte Carlo."
