First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a workshop in the State Dining Room where she acknowledged the contributions Memphis has made in music. Timberlake, a Memphis native, spoke about growing up in Tennessee and "feeling linked" to the music made there, according to POLITICO.

"Oh, watching you all's faces -- priceless," she said, according to a White House transcript. "Priceless. See, you never know what's going to happen at the White House. Okay, let's breathe. Come on. Everyone, let's breathe, even the moms."
Mrs. Obama also made mention of Timberlake's work ethic.
"[When] Justin first started touring, he would immediately go to the bus to watch a tape of his performance, taking notes so that the next night he would be even better."

Other entertainers that will hit the stage a White House concert where the former boy band front man include Al Green, Queen Latifah and Cyndi Lauper.
